The village of Beckley lies about 4.5 miles to the north-east of Oxford. Neighbouring Woodperry House, in the village of Stanton St John, was begun in 1728 for John Morse, a London goldsmith. The village of Woodperry was destroyed by fire sometime in the mid-16th Century.
