He first visited the city at the end of his walking tour from Paris in the summer of 1836 arriving by boat from Arles on 24th July.This is a view looking down east down the Vieux Port. To the left is the spire of the church of Notre Dame des Accoules with a row of windmills beyond. In the 17th century there were 15 windmills which is now commemorated in the Place des Moulins){kind=link}
