The present watercolour demonstrates the debt that his pupil Thomas Girtin (1775-1802) and the young J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851) (see cat. no.18) owed to Edward Dayes, with his assured, careful and elegant use of line and delicate palette. A further watercolour of Norwich Cathedral from the South-East was with Agnew's in 1976.
