The Roman Campagna is a generic term for the low-lying area surrounding the city of Rome. It was a popular with artists in the 18th and 19th centuries for its atmospheric Roman ruins. The remains of a Roman acqueduct are visible in the distance and the conical structure to the right is a shepherd's hut.
