He is recorded in Rome in January 1828 and was back in England by August 1829. He seems to have mainly travelled with his fellow artist Thomas Uwins (1782-1857). By June 1828 they were together in Naples and in October took a house at Resina at the foot of Vesuvius. Havell was back in Rome in early 1829 before returning home.){kind=link}
