    Craignethan Castle stands 4 1/2 miles north-west of Lanark, Scotland. It was built by Sir James Hamilton of Finnart in 1530.

    30.4 by 59 cm., 12 by 15 ¼  in.

     

    This drawing is traditionally attributed to the Scottish artist Hugh `Grecian’ Williams but the attribution is not certain as he only arrived in Rome from Florence in November 1816.

     

    The church of Santa Maria Assunta was designed by Bernini from 1661 to 1665 commissioned by the Chigi family. It sits across the main square of Ariccia from the Palazzo Chigi, home to the family of Pope Alexander VII.
