    This rapidly drawn on-the-spot sketch shows the artistís son Harry although in contrast Cope is best known for his historical paintings. He studied at the Royal Academy Schools and was made R.A. in 1848. In 1833 he left for Italy where he spent two years returning in 1845. Like Daniel Maclise, he painted a number of frescoes for the new Houses of Parliament.
